Minimum count subtraction is used to reduce background noise in the TIDE count rates. The steps used in the minimum count subtraction are as follows: First, the mask is corrected using the mask correction factor. Then the minimum count in the mask is located and subtracted from the mask. Then the minimum count is found in the data before the mask is subtracted. Finally, the minimum count and the mask (with the minimum subtracted) are subtracted. This is done for each spin before ion conversion and spin averaging.
