Operations / Software Comments - 03/24/04 TIDE Telecon Operations: TIDE high voltage was shutdown on 03/01/04 at 14:10 UT for Polar Spacecraft attitude adjustment. There was yet another Polar GGS Telemetry Module (GTM) upset on 03/03/04 at 20:14 UT. The GTM was reset at 21:03. TIDE did not come back up after the GTM reset so TIDE was also reset on 03/04/04 at 21:02. Software patches were reloaded and high voltage ramped on 03/07/04, 17:15-18:38. Reminder: A record of non-standard TIDE Operations is now kept current on the web. You can get to the site by clicking on 'Ops' or 'Operations' on the TIDE home pages or by bookmarking http://satyr.msfc.nasa.gov/TIDE/tide_operations.html. Note: only 2003 and 2004 are up-to-date. Development version of tide_lz_v5.8.0: The standalone and IDL versions of the code are available for testing on goewin at GSFC and on griffin at MSFC. If you are interested in copies of these versions contact Peggy Sloan (peggy.sloan@msfc.nasa.gov or 256-961-7681). The software is also available for testing on the web at: htr spectrograms: http://satyr.msfc.nasa.gov/TIDE/lz_engspn_htr.v580.shtml moments: http://satyr.msfc.nasa.gov/TIDE/lz_moments.v580.shtml velocity distribution: http://satyr.msfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/TIDE/lz_graphics-dir/lz_vdp_first.v580.pl The software includes new options to: - correct the mask subtraction - correct spacecraft potential offset - estimate the polar angle distribution in the Stops data and use it to restrict moments calculations. - restrict spin angle range used in moments calculation to a range centered around the b-field, the user specifies the width of the range in degrees and whether it applies to positive B, negative B, or both.
