Operations / Software Comments - 05/03/05 TIDE Telecon Operations: ---------- There was a Polar attitude adjustment April 20. TIDE's high voltage was shut off at 12:50 and ramped starting at 14:00 on April 23. Software: --------- Work continued adding the option to the TIDE processing software to contour the velocity distribution data and adding the option to plot the data using GSE and GSM coordinates in addition to b-field. The problem with contouring 1996 data has been corrected for the b-field coordinate system. There are still some problems with the GSM and GSE projections with and without contours. Some preliminary plots are in http://satyr.msfc.nasa.gov/tideteam/vel_dist_contours/. There are three new directories vx_plane, vy_plane, and vz_plane. Each directory has data for three time periods (2 H+ and 2 Stops). There are three plots for each time period: the first plot is b-field coordinates, the second plot is GSE, and the third is GSM. The results for the VZ plane look okay. There are some problems with the other planes. Dick West is setting up a test website for the contour software on the MSFC site. Go to the velocity distribution custom plot page and change the URL perl script to lz_vdp_first_cntr.pl. On page three of the options, the new display options are the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th options. In http://satyr.msfc.nasa.gov/tideteam/TIDE_info/, there is a file called missing.telemetry that lists all of the gaps in the TIDE telemetry files. It gets updated several times a week.
