Operations

Starting with radiation belt commands at 13:18 UT on 12/29/06, TIDE mirrors shutdown and never came back up. Prior to the shutdown, starting at ~09:00 UT, the mirrors stepped down for high energy due to high counts. The high voltage was turned off at 14:02 on 01/03/07. TIDE was reset, software patches were loaded, and the high voltage ramped beginning at 16:00 on 01/04/07.

The voltage on the Start MCP was changed from -3400V to -3000V starting at 05:45 UT on 12/21/06. Plots from some of the initial data are in tideteam/2006_ions/mcp-3000v.

There is a Polar Spin Axis Adjustment Maneuver scheduled for 01/09/07. TIDE high voltage will be turned off at ~13:40 UT. The voltage is scheduled to be turned on and ramped on 01/12/07 at ~12:40 UT.

Software

Summary plots for the 2006 direct-event / ion data are in tideteam/2006_ions_summary. Detailed plots of the H+, O+, and He+ data are in tideteam/2006_ions. There is a file called PlotDescription in the directory that explains the plots in each of the subdirectories.

Starting at 12:43 UT on 12/01/06, TIDE quit receiving the correct values for the MFE magnetic field azimuth and elevation in the telemetry stream. The problem with MFE was corrected at 00:06 UT on 12/09/06. The values were locked in at azimuth = 319 degrees and elevation = 158 degrees. Because the values are wrong, for this time period, magnetic field markers on spectrogram plots will be wrong and moments and velocity distribution plots will be incorrect.
